Ray Mhlaba Skills Center

Main Objective

To reduce unemployment rates of youth aged 18 – 25 years residing in underprivileged and deprived circumstances by offering skills and social development programs equipping them with knowledge, skills and ability to obtain formal employment or become self-sustainable entrepreneurs.

Main disciples of training: Needlework, Woodwork, Hospitality, Butchery, Bakery, Beauty, Early Childhood Development.

Highlights

They Ray Mhlaba Skills Training Centre has been in operation for the past 19 years. To date, 2369 students have successfully completed our vocational and socials skills development programs, approximately 81% of graduates gained
formal employment post program completion or became successful entrepreneurs. Students have become industry recognizable business owners or are sustainable via sole trading, utilizing their skills to generate an income. 

Students maintain long term employment progressing to leadership roles and are members of the SAPS, Lawyers, Engineers, SME Business owners and are well established in their careers, independent and financially secure. They are key providers to their families and upstanding members of their communities. Our graduates are roles models to the youth who also long for a successful future and are living proof that the skills and social attributes obtained form our Centre are positively impacting livelihoods and ultimately changing lives.

Our focus continues to be financial and economic empowerment as well as lifelong learning for the unemployed, underprivileged youth form the most impoverished areas of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropole
