Lwazi Mankahla brings a wealth of experience in leadership, strategy, and social impact to the Makwande Empowerment Trust, formerly known as the Distell Development Trust. Since joining the organization in 2018, he has served as its CEO, providing strategic direction and overseeing its operations.
Lwazi’s passion for empowering communities is evident in his extensive experience in corporate social investment (CSI). Prior to his CEO role, he spent over eight years at Mediclinic Southern Africa, where he successfully developed and implemented CSI strategies.
He shares his leadership expertise through board service with a focus on non-profit organizations (NGOs) aligned with social upliftment, while also contributing to a commercial board.
Lwazi’s well-rounded background includes marketing, communications, stakeholder management, and general management expertise. His dedication to social impact and proven leadership makes him a valuable asset to the Trust as it continues its important work of transforming people’s lives.
