Bridging the gap between talented South African youth and STEM careers
The Access for Success University Preparation Programme is designed to empower deserving learners from disadvantaged backgrounds who have excelled in secondary school despite the odds. We aim to improve their National Senior Certificate (NSC) Mathematics and Physical Sciences marks, develop essential personal skills for university life, and navigate the university and bursary application processes.
Our goal is to bridge the gap between secondary and tertiary education and do so by focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). A4S equips students to pursue degrees that lead to in-demand STEM careers, directly addressing the nation’s need for a skilled workforce in these vital fields.
The Access for Success (A4S) program is a one-year academic initiative at the AEL Duin-in-die-Weg campus, focusing on improving NSC Mathematics and Physical Sciences scores.
The program runs for one academic year, classes are held six days a week for about 10 weeks per term
Instruction is in English and includes formal tuition and group work
A4S helps students register as repeat candidates for the NSC exams in Mathematics and Physical Sciences. On-campus accommodation and meals are provided.
