REAP is an associated body of the Southern African Catholic Bishops’ Association (SACBC) which was registered as a South African not-for-profit organisation in 2001. It currently employs 26 staff members, spread between Cape Town (head office), Bloemfontein, Johannesburg, Durban, Northern Cape and Limpopo. Our vision

To reduce rural poverty in South Africa by developing self-sustaining, ethically responsible caring graduates.

Our mission

To offer motivated young South Africans from disadvantaged rural households the support and guidance they need to access post-school education & training (PSET), graduate, sustain themselves and become ethically responsible citizens.

Our programmes

REAP has two main programmatic strands

  • • The Post-School Readiness Programme (PSRP), which seeks to prepare Grades 10-12 learners at rural secondary schools to access and success in PSET. The programme is currently operating in Free State, Northern Cape and Limpopo.

  • • The Student Support Programme which provides holistic individualised student support and development workshops to rural students at both university and TVET Colleges. We currently support 182 students at 20 PSET institutions in 8 provinces, with students originating from all 9 provinces.
