For practical and security reasons, the MMSA was established and located at the Ramauba secondary school in the Masia village with the approval and support of the department of basic education.
Subjects offered at the MMSA include mathematics, life and physical sciences, and computer literacy. The launch in 2019 could be described as bold, yet austere. Having met its critical success factors, MMSA continues to grow and expand. The academy currently tutors 1300 learners on a weekly rotational basis. It employs 20 staff members of which 13 are qualified academic tutors. These figures are fluid given the dynamics at play. The student body is made up of primary learners through grade 12.
It operates daily after normal school hours, Saturdays between 08h00 and 15h00 and most school holidays apart from the summer break at year-end. The MMSA currently boasts two fully equipped computer laboratories, three science laboratories and four mathematics classrooms. During the next phase we aim to enhance the capacity of the MMSA in every respect. We are particularly proud of our partnership with the Makwande Trust who continues to invest in the MMSA.
